The Scope
The EPC director leads a technical operations team responsible for delivering offshore wind projects and leading the EPC. The EPC Director’s main responsibilities are:
- Overall decision maker for all EPC Project matters and seeks executive sign-off where required.
- Develop a clear EPC delivery strategy for the Project maximising the business capabilities.
- Drive key project control processes, procedures and reporting to ensure a strong governance culture is in place.
- Implement all standard offshore business processes and procedures to enable design, execution, and construction to the highest industry standards maximising the returns for the company during the whole life cycle of the Project, while maintaining superior H&S standards.
- Build and lead the EPC team to effectively deliver a world class project.
- Communicate effectively with state and local officials, community leaders, and other key stakeholders on project development.
- Ensure compliance of the standard EPC processes and procedures to the Project. A close level of oversight and audit is expected.
- Dealing with the project management team attending and presenting at regular senior management meetings.
- Close management and liaison with multiple stakeholders at various levels. Coordinating and supporting key expertise from within the offshore business.
- Holding ultimate responsibility for the EPC of the project.
The Requirements
- Degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in commercial leadership of a large-scale power generation project (minimum 300 MW) from start to completion.
- International experience.
- Extensive experience in management of large multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
- Proven track record delivering large, complex, multidisciplinary designs and execution of works in an offshore environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
- Knowledge of H&S, regulatory and environmental legislation associated with construction projects.
- Experience in long term planning and scheduling for all contracting activities relating to project delivery.
- Experience in implementation of business plan and setting annual team and individual goals, managing reviews and performance.
- Experience in formulating and gaining approvals for project investment cases and annual budgets then managing controlling and forecasting.
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
- Flexible to travel within the continent and to wherever suppliers are located
- Proactive, agile, and diligent approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deliver against tight deadlines.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to link commercial awareness to contractual judgement and decision making.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and build consensus in decision making.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive attitude to change.
