The Scope
In the role of WTG Transport and Installation Manager, you will report directly to the EPC Manager and indirectly to the WTG Package Manager.
- Building a high performing team, guiding a team of sub-package mangers, contract manager(s) and project engineers with day-to-day people management.
- Collaborating effectively with the other EPCI Work packages, ensuring the cross-package issues are identified and solved in the best interest of the project.
- Be able to report effectively to the project leadership team, as well senior executives of project shareholders.
- Knowledge Management: Ensuring continued consistency across the project portfolio, in line with up to date industry best practice and incorporating lessons learned from other development and operational projects.
- Follow up and report on new standards, methodologies, service providers and best practices, seeking to apply these in the project to optimise the overall project risk profile.
- Integration of tools, templates, procedures developed and used by the project portfolio and applying these in the project
- Support the BOP and WTG Package Managers in delivering the projects, with overall responsibility for design, specification, procurement and management of the WTG T&I package during the development and execution phase of the project.
- Responsible for coordinating with all supporting functions including Contracts, Finance, Permits and ensuring requirements are aligned all aspects related to the WTG T&I package.
- In cooperation with Package Manager and Contract manager, tender, negotiate and recommend WTG TSA installation schedules, Installation vessel charter and MWS contract.
- Support the Harbour Manager in relation to WTG T&I activities taking place at the WTG Pre-assembly harbour
- Ensure bankability of all technical and commercial requirements related to the WTG T&I package in the contracts, lead detailed negotiations and coordinate with the Project team through to contract award. Conduct technical and commercial reviews of the T&I package documentation and provide timely feedback on issues and resolutions.
- Manage and review design development for all aspects related to the WTG T&I package in the lead up to construction and in support of achieving all required permits and approvals.
- Programme management of the relevant T&I Suppliers and Contractors to identify and manage timing and interface issues.
- Manage offshore installation contractor, vessel supplier and MWS incl. cross discipline cooperation with Engineering, Procurement, Harbour and Fabrication and other project team personnel.
- Inform the WTG package manager of all significant technical risk and develop contingency plans.
- Continuous knowledge sharing including regularly updated Lessons Learnt registers within the project and shareholders organizations.
- Carry out HAZID/HAZOP for installation equipment design and offshore installation operations. Review Design Risk Assessments for specialised equipment.
- Coordinate and attend inspections of vessels provided to the projects.
- Select and manage Client’s Representatives and daily progress reports for the WTG T&I activities
- Challenge scope specifications to determine where unnecessary costs can be eliminated, and more value can be achieved
- Deal with claims mitigation and challenge cost disputes with 3rd party suppliers and in collaboration with the Package Managers and Contract Managers
- Management of the interfaces with the other packages (WTG, O&M) in the project.
- Work closely with the HSE manager, Quality manager and the wider project team to assure that the suppliers and contractors are operating in compliance with the project QA/QC and HSE and requirements.
- Identification and reporting of risks and development of mitigation measures as part of the overall risk management process.
- Collaborating closely with the planning and interface management functions within the BOP and PMO team.
- Control spend against the approved project budget in close liaison with the project Cost Controller.
The Requirements
- Relevant bachelor’s engineering degree or master’s engineering degree providing a strong technical foundation in understanding interfaces in large EPC(I) projects.
- 5+ years of experience in relevant and similar fields of work. (e.g. complex EPC(I) Construction Projects, large infrastructure project.
- As a minimum requirement you would have been a T&I Manager or Lead Engineer for a previous WTG T&I project both in the development and construction phase.
- Knowledge of supply chain contract management fundamentals, best practices, and industry trends. Understanding of contract law (preferably BIMCO, FIDIC and/or LOGIC contract styles)
- High level of knowledge of lifting and marine operations standards.
- Understanding HSE management principles.
- Ability and interest to deep dive into complex contractual and technical challenges.
- Excellent cooperation and collaboration skills; a team player who is willing and able to work with others to solve problems and share knowledge.
- Comfortable flagging problems when they arise and asking for help when needed.
- Ability to be proactive while working remotely or independently.
- Strong planning and implementation skills including both tactical and strategic planning
- Culturally aware with a high level of emotional intelligence to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
